Rikke - Manager, Internal Systems Business Domains
"I started out as a student help, then became a business analyst for 3 months, and was thereafter offered a position as project manager. I worked as a project manager on various projects for four to five years until I was offered a managerial position. SimCorp saw the potential, and I got a chance to prove I could do it."
Rikke Blix Hagemann - Manager for Business Domains, with SimCorp since September 2002

I am a manager of our Internal Systems Business Domains. Business Domains are responsible for developing and maintaining SimCorp's internal systems environment and applications.
If you like to disappear in the crowd SimCorp is not the place to be, but if you like to be challenged and develop as a manager standing up for your ideas and opinions then it is the perfect place to be - especially for a female manager. I think that men and women have different skills that can be employed as managers. It is in my opinion important to have a balance between men and women in the managerial team, so that it reflects the rest of the organisation.

What in general makes SimCorp an attractive workplace?
That I can develop - both in regards to my skills, but also on a personal level and that I have super colleagues who can challenge me. Things are up for debate here, and decisions are not made "top down". We have a very social work place that makes it a bit like a family - something that makes it hard to leave.
Talented people stay at SimCorp to be challenged. We have a work environment that provides a lot of challenges, and that is what is needed for further development. We have also focused more on developing our specialists over they years, which I think is positive.
How is the work-life balance?
Maintaining a good balance between work and private life is always a challenge. I see SimCorp as a company where it is possible to maintain both a good family life and an interesting career. There have been times during which I have worked a lot and also too much. But my lesson was that it is my responsibility to find a good balance and hold on to it. For me it is natural to want to improve myself in all areas, and the experience I get is helping me to work more efficiently, so there is time for both family and work.
