What is your background? I have a M.A in economics and management from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, and then I started here at SimCorp fresh out of university. In a way, you could say that I have grown into my current position. SimCorp challenges you to develop, and this encourages you to seek out greater and more ambitious goals. The learning curve is always there, and it is often intense – but at the same time, it is very, very rewarding when you are able to design a tangible solution that the client can benefit from.
What does your job entail? One day I am working with compliance, the next with risk and performance. No two days are ever the same, and no task is routine. I function as the main point of contact for clients, who communicate, support and provide operational services for some of the largest investment management companies in the world. I collaborate with clients to analyze issues and present solutions to improve their organizational processes and practices. It is my job to help ensure that their businesses remain as agile as possible, so they can adapt seamlessly to any new strategic requirement or industry legislation, they may face.
What is the work environment like at SimCorp? It is very inclusive. Even when I was new and first joined SimCorp, the flat structure made me feel that my opinions mattered. It feels as if everyone is working in the same direction towards one common goal. It is also an ambitious environment, and you can tell that everyone really believes in the products we work with. I think that being in a global company has given me a lot of opportunities personally – from London to Abu Dhabi, Bad Homburg, Copenhagen and Brussels, I have been given a great chance to expand my global network.
