Partnering for success - Client Driven Development

Operating in a complex industry means that investment firms constantly have new requirements for functionality within SimCorp Dimension.

To further support concrete needs of our clients, we have introduced Client Driven Development, a new initiative to help us keep up with demand. SimCorp clients now have the possibility to directly influence the priority of developing new functionality in SimCorp Dimension.

We continue to invest over 20% of our revenue into Research & Development and have transparency of our strategic roadmap over 1 – 2 years based on input from clients and market research. Besides this, there is additional functionality demands from clients that we want to satisfy. This could be functionality that is needed earlier than planned in our strategic roadmap.

To satisfy these needs, clients can have a direct influence on new functionality by sponsoring, and supporting to drive, new features.

Key benefits of Client Driven Development

  • Possibility to influence priorities of SimCorp Dimension development – faster time to market
  • Fast access to development capacity – better planning and mitigation of risk
  • Close cooperation between clients and SimCorp – security that client needs are fulfilled
  • Integration into SimCorp Dimension – secure high quality, easy maintenance and use of best practice

There are two alternative ways Client Driven Development can work

A client buys a special functionality: If a client feels they are missing special functionality, and if the delivery of this functionality has not been planned within the SimCorp Dimension product roadmap for a special release, the client has the possibility to pay to get a commitment from SimCorp.

A client buys a development service: A client will pay a fee for reserving SimCorp development hours to get fast commitments if the client finds out that functionality is missing in the standard software delivery.

While Client Driven Development is a relatively new offering, we already have projects underway, as well as a lot of interest from other clients. The investment management industry is extremely complex and we see this as a great solution to supporting our clients overcome this complexity.
