The non-profit organization aims to transform Denmark into one of the leading fintech hubs in the world, by supporting and accelerating innovation among technology-led corporates and start-ups. The newly-formed partnership is part of SimCorp's own increasing strategic focus on innovation and will enable it to build and access a global start-up network that can strengthen SimCorp’s solutions for the global institutional investment industry.
Anchored in the fast-growing Nordic design and digital industry, but with strong connections to global startup communities, Copenhagen Fintech's ambition is to promote and foster collaboration between start-ups and larger enterprises, in the intersection between finance and technology. With the partnership, SimCorp gains complete access to a large Nordic community of start-ups, with a dedicated focus on financial innovation. As such, the partnership is a step in SimCorp’s strategic focus in building an open eco-system of complementary solutions, to provide its clients more optionality.
With a history of innovation, including its foundational front-to-back investment management system, SimCorp places great importance on the evolution of technology. This includes an industry-leading annual commitment to R&D, as well as investments in various global start-up and fintechs. An example is its most recent investment stake and machine learning collaboration with New York based Alkymi.Alkymi's Natural Language Processing (NLP) technology provides SimCorp with a unique opportunity to solve key challenges facing its clients, by delivering vital automation of data processes and workflows, as well as the rapid extraction of insights from large volumes of data.
Thomas Krogh Jensen, CEO at Copenhagen Fintech comments: “The Danish fintech ecosystem is booming and generally receives huge international recognition. As one of Denmark’s first and most greatest fintech successes, SimCorp’s participation in this community is significant. Over the course of nearly fifty years, SimCorp has made a growth journey that any start-up dreams about, transitioning from a few people with a great idea to a global profitable enterprise, delivering to some of the world’s leading financial institutions. In this capacity SimCorp brings the ambition and perspective that can benefit our community, together with the critical market access to a very interesting client base for our fintechs and start-ups.”
SimCorp CEO, Klaus Holse, comments: “It is an important part of our strategy to build a value-added ecosystem of solutions and services that either complement or enhance our core system; SimCorp Dimension. We are strong believers that partnerships with both start-ups and more mature technology firms can increase our competitiveness and assist us in being at the forefront of our clients’ future needs to deliver desired business outcomes. The partnership with Copenhagen Fintech solidifies this strategic focus area.
