How Danske Bank Asset Management simplified and scaled to a record DKK 1 trillion with SimCorp
Danske Bank Asset Management is one of the largest asset managers in the Nordics, running equities, fixed income and a fast-growing alternatives book for clients across the region and beyond. Over more than two decades of growth, the business had outgrown the technology and processes that had evolved over time. Simplifying the value chain became a priority in the firm's five-year business strategy, and to scale further they needed a simpler, fully integrated front-to-back platform.
Watch: 3 minutes with Michael Sinnet on the move to one platform
The solution
Danske Bank Asset Management has run part of its investment operations on SimCorp for 25 years, building custom development and configuration around the platform as it grew. Separately, the firm used Axioma risk solutions in the front office. Consolidating all this onto a single front-to-back platform let the firm retire that surrounding legacy technology and keep scaling with SimCorp. The decision factors the team named:
- A simpler, more scalable platform for business growth
- The Investment Book of Record (IBOR) as the real-time unified data layer
- Consistent and accessible high-quality data across every asset class
- A cloud-ready path ready for new modules and gen AI capabilities
The business benefits
A total portfolio view for portfolio managers
A front-to-back platform gives portfolio managers one connected view of the total portfolio, across four countries and every asset class. With consistent data from front to back, they make day-to-day investment decisions on a complete picture.
Simpler, and built to scale
Simplifying the value chain stripped out custom builds and configuration, giving Danske Bank Asset Management a platform to scale on as assets under management reached a record DKK 1 trillion.
A platform ready for innovation
The cloud-ready platform gives the firm access to new capabilities as they arrive, starting with a new performance analytics module and generative AI on the roadmap.
We've had really good projects with SimCorp. It felt like one uniform team taking us through the full journey, not siloed, with different approaches to implementation.
